Building techniques and sustainable low cost houses

“Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought” – Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

This is exactly what inventor and CEO of moladi, Hennie Botes implemented in 1986, “thinking out the box” applying “solution thinking” – addressing two fundamental issues plaguing not only South Africa but effecting billions of people worldwide – Unemployment and lack of adequate housing. This potential of moladi was recognised way back in 1997 by the SABS Design Institute – SABS Design For Development Award

Twenty five years on, moladi is honoured by being selected by the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum – Rockefeller Foundation to showcase the South African designed and patented technology at the United Nations in New York as an innovative solution to address the unprecedented growth of informal settlements globally – Design with the Other 90% CITIES
